This transformative session of the Spiritual Mental Health Diet will take you on a bright and beautiful journey of self care and self discovery that will manifest in movement and progress toward 3 life goals that are important to you right now. We will use yoga philosophy, simple Ayurvedic healing techniques and practices for daily calm and focus. Through the collective group energy and the joy of living in presence as we tend the seeds of our future - we will bring personal meaning and purpose into high focus. Whether you want to bring more peace and joy into your life, learn to trust your intuition more, or jumpstart a new project, service or chapter in your life - this is the SMHD session for you.

Yoga is both a goal oriented practice and a path of present minded awareness where the journey is emphasized as the most important part of living. We need a balance of action and surrender, movement and stillness, push and rest in order to grow.

Growth is a natural state and as long as we are growing, we are truly living.

In the last 3 years, many of us have lost our sense of continuity, our patterns, habits and behaviors have been disrupted by covid, personal losses, lifestyle changes, financial challenges and health concerns. I personally have been through the hardest time in my life. I am here to walk alongside you as we forge ahead on the path that is always our right path - GROWTH. We seek the light like a plant pushing upward from the forest floor or crack in the city sidewalk.

WHAT IT IS:

SMHD is really a "LIVE-IT" - it's about LIVING more peacefully, healthfully and joyfully. Like any good diet we take some things out and we add some things in. Through the wisdom practices we will weed out and release the limiting factors in body and mind, while we build a toolkit that will keep you connected to your natural brightest essence. HUMAN means - "light of the mind" so as we empty the mind of clutter we fill with light. Drawing mainly from Yoga and Ayurveda as well as soulful and healthful practices from other cultures, we will travel week by week through Mind, Body and Spirit. This course is rooted in actionable practical applications to decrease the stress responses in the body and mind which results in a healthier relationship with yourself and others. The program will culminate in creating your personalized daily practice (Sadhana) drawing on all that you have covered and experienced in the previous weeks, with Christine's guidance and the powerful energy of the group!

WHO IS CHRISTINE BURKE...

Christine is a lifelong student and teacher of 23 years of all things related to personal development, health and lifestyle practices, yoga and yoga philosophy, emotional and physical well being. She is passionate about supporting the elevation of your life through empowered choices and active awareness and compassion. Though her first memory of spiritual pondering was at the age of 8 when she became keenly aware that we have only this moment, it wasn't until her 20's that she truly "found yoga". Christine stepped into yoga as an actress & dancer in New York in 1994, which was a life shifting moment for her. In 2000, she received her first certification in Los Angeles as a 200-hour level teacher. She has been teaching full time ever since. She's a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance at 800 hour-plus level and has taught thousands of students of all ages. Christine and her husband, Gary McCleery, opened Liberation Yoga in 2004.. The studio has been named in the 'Top 20 Yoga Studios In The World' by Travel + Leisure Magazine, 'Best Yoga Studio in LA' by LA Weekly and named in the 'Top Ten Most Beautiful Yoga Studios in the U.S. by tripping.com among other awards and accolades. Christine's writing has been featured in LA Yoga and Yogi Times, her teaching featured in LA Times, LA Weekly, Yogi Times, LA Yoga, Westways Magazine, Great Yoga Teachers and many online magazines. Christine's first book, The Yoga Healer, was awarded "The Best Yoga Book" by Soul & Spirit Magazine and her second book "The Power of Hand Yoga, Pranayama and Mudras for Health and Well Being" was also awarded. She has been the yoga & meditation teacher at the renowned Marlborough School since 2012. She is a Grief Educator and workshop facilitator and has been leading her SMHD program 4 times per year since 2018. Christine lives happily and in gratitude for her Liberation community, her family and her LIFE, sharing the gift of yoga in Los Angeles, with her daughter, Clementine, the spirit of her beloved husband, and their companion animals.

This course (affectionately and for convenience called SMHD) is a seasonal course (usually offered each of the 4 seasons) of self care, community connection and yoga life philosophy. Each session has a particular theme woven into the season and allowing for a dive into bringing the yoga lifestyle and some Ayurvedic tips into your daily life - basically for more mindful, satisfying and beautiful living.

We meet weekly on zoom for the lesson of the week that I am offering, a guided meditation and breathwork, and sharing of activities and experience so we can support, encourage and grow together. Each SMHD session is different and some elements are repeated as they are essential components to this wellness offering. This is YOU time - to explore, uncover and relax into yourself and your life.

MAKING PEACE WITH TIME
Ritual, Reflection, Resilience and Radiance

We will explore our attitudes, conditioning and self talk that inhibit our ability to experience a true present for any length of time. We will honor and release aspects of the past that draw our precious life force away and focus on the wisdom we have attained. We will observe and understand our preoccupation with the future and worrying and replace the habit of worry with healthy action. We will create a new relationship with the present, past and future built on joyful rituals that bring more radiance and nourish our bodies, minds and spirits so we are more resilient.

Mother's Day Yoga Workshop & Tea Party

Join Christine Burke for an uplifting afternoon of mindful joyful connection and celebration of mothers! This can be taken as partners from a distance or in the same space. This moderate all levels class will include Gentle Yoga, breathwork for healthy lungs and mind, hand yoga, energy work and creative writing. We will finish with a tea party! All levels are welcome including beginners and those more comfortable in a chair!

What to bring: any yoga props you have such as blanket, blocks, bolster, strap. If you do not have yoga props – improvise with pillows, blanket that fold and roll well, or larger towel. If you are using a chair please choose a firm but comfortable chair with a back. If you enjoy essential oils or mist please have that on hand.

Tea party – have a cup of tea ready for our end ceremony. We will have time to reheat it.

COST: $30 per person until May 5th and $35 after.

Settle in with a gentle, non-sweaty restorative yoga practice designed for you to unknot your body, release tension, and become spacious. Then be guided into the dream-like state of Yoga Nidra where your questions and answers become illuminated and your intentions deeply planted. Reiki energy work and aromatherapy are offered during the practice. 

Wear loose comfy clothing and bring a journal to jot down your insights.

Cost: $25 until a week before the event and $30 thereafter.

What exactly will we be doing?
We will be doing a few stretches and using lots of yoga props (pillows, blankets, and blocks) to rest comfortably in gentle poses on the ground.

What is Yoga Nidra?
It’s a guided meditation you do while lying on your back. You’ll follow Quinn's voice as we take a rotation of consciousness through your body, breathe deeply, and go on a visualization journey to plant your intention in your mind, body, and psyche. For more information, click here

What is Reiki energy work?
Reiki is a pure energy that flows from the hands of an attuned provider into your body. By hovering our hands over you or gently placing them on your body (with your permission), the energy naturally flows where it’s most needed. Some people report feeling warmth or a pleasant tingling sensation, while others might not feel a thing. Reiki will add to your experience of relaxation, peace, and healing.

What should I bring?
A yoga mat if you’ve got one (we have some to loan) and a journal, if you’re the note taking or journaling type. Sometimes epiphanies happen in the middle of a practice like this, so if you want to capture it…

Liberation's New Year's Eve Workshop and Celebration

Join Christine, Gary, and Clementine as we ring in the New Year for our 15th year in a row at Liberation! Women’s Sacred Circle with Chanting and a Flower Essence Journey

Come and join our Women’s Sacred Circle for an evening of chanting, sharing, and awakening. Spend and evening in a safe space with Women who want to create divine friendship, build community, and offer loving support as we open ourselves to our hearts. As women, we intuitively know the joy that comes from supporting and listening to one another. We also know the experience of feeling the need to go deeper, into ourselves, into life, into our hearts. This two hour workshop will give you the opportunity to share sacred time with like minded others and hold space for an experience of super-consciousness. We will use flower essences to assist us in our exploration.

Flower essences are plant medicine made from the flowers of a plant. Resting the flowers in purified water allows the water to accept the ‘imprint’ or ‘essence’ of the flower. That water becomes the flower essence. When you take the flower essence internally, it resonates with your essence and creates space for a shift within you. The shift can be emotional, physical, psychological, spiritual depending on the flower.

Chanting is a sacred, joyful, and healing practice of quieting the mind and opening the heart to feel union with Divine Source. A devotee asked Paramhansa Yogananda “How can we find God in this life?” and the Master answered, “Chanting is half the battle.”

I look forward to sharing this evening with you.
